Merchant and Mills - Edo Indigo Cotton

$24.95

Price is per half metre

eg 5 = 2.5 metres

An indigo cotton with a bold red spot.

Suitable for dresses, tops, shirts, and trousers. We would make a stand out Shepherd or Mathilde.

Please note that as this cloth is heavily dyed with natural indigo we recommend for the first couple of washes, place the fabric in the washing machine drum at 30 or 40 degrees with a handful of table salt. This will help fix the dye, however the indigo will continue to come out and lose colour over time.

Edo Indigo is suitable for the following patterns in our Workbook: Saltmarsh, Bantam and Heron.

More about this cloth

This cloth is made with Kala cotton. Kala cotton is indigenous to Kutch in India and by default organic, as the farmers do not use any pesticides or synthetic fertilisers. It is a purely rain-fed crop that has a high tolerance for both disease and pests and requires minimal investment. The cotton has a beautiful rustic quality and we love it for it’s eco credentials and raw beauty.
